The Clejuso cuffs #11 and #12 may be opened without a key as long as the bow is closed but the double lock has not been activated yet.
Dies mag zu unerwarteten Situationen führen, wenn diese Eigenschaft nicht bekannt ist, ist aber kein schwerwiegendes Problem, da Handschellen nach dem Anlegen sowieso aus Sicherheitsgründen gegen Engerstellen zu verriegeln sind.
This may cause some unexpected situation in the case that this property is not known to the person using these cuffs. But this is not a major problem because after handcuffs have been applied they should be double locked for safety reason anyway.

And how does this "magician's trick" work?
One pushes the the locking bow just short of the next click
and then presses and holds on the the louble lock button.
Instead of engaging the double lock the ratchet is clamped
and by moving the bow back and forth one can eventually
open the cuff.
In jüngerer Zeit ist berichtet worden, daß dieser "Zaubertrick" mit neuen Exemplaren der Clejuso 12 nicht mehr funktioniert. Es kann durchaus sein, daß eine kleine technische Modifikation dafür ausgereicht hat.
It has been reported recently that this "magician's trick" no longer works with new Clejuso 12. It may well be that a minor technical modification was sufficient to achieve this.

Das Innenleben einer Clejuso Nummer 13. Der gleiche Schloßmechanismus wird auch in der Clejuso Nummer 15 verwendet. Eine Besonderheit der Produkte aus dem Hause Clejuso ist die Aktivierung der Verriegelung mittels Druckknopf und ohne Verwendung eines Schlüssels.
Looking inside a Clejuso #13. The same locking mechanism is used for the similar but heavier model #15. Typical for products from Clejuso is that one may activate the double lock via a push-button without the need to use a key.
Wie das Photo aus dem Jahr 2001 zeigt, ist durch Druck auf die Sperrklinken dieses Teil aus Alu-Druckguß gebrochen. Die dünne Wandung aus schwachem Material ist hier auf Biegung belastet worden.
As can be seen on the photo taken in the year 2001, in pressing on the ratchet this part made from cast aluminium was caused to break. This thinly walled piece made from a weak material had been submitted to a bending force.
Wahrscheinlich könnte man diesen Schwachpunkt beseitigen, wenn man die Sperrklinge aus einem festerem Material fertigte. Eine Änderung der Formgebung erscheint mir nicht unmöglich, aber aufwendiger, und würde wohl auch eine Änderung der Schlüsselform benötigen.
Most probably one could eliminate this weak point in the design in using a stronger material for the ratchet. Changing the shape, albeit not impossible, appears to me to involve more effort and possibly would necessitate changing the key form as well.
Beim Drehen des Schlüssels im Schlüsselloch kann man zeitweise einen Teil der Sperrklinge erblicken. Die dabei sichtbare Kante, welche sich parallel zur Unterseite des Schlüssellochs zeigt, läßt den Autor vermuten, daß bei dem ihm zur Verfügung stehenden Exemplar einer Clejuso Nr.13 jüngereren Datums die heikle Stelle im Gußteil schon diagonal verstärkt worden ist.
When turning the key in the keyhole one may see some part of this cast metal piece showing up temporarily. The edge coming into view is parallel to the bottom part of the keyhole while the above photo would suggest an angle of 45 degrees due to the diagonally oriented keyhole. Thus the author is suspecting that inside a younger specimen of Clejuso #13 which he could recently inspect the cast metal piece in question is already strengthened diagonally.
