Früher hatte man normalerweise was ausgefressen,
wenn man an den Pranger gestellt wurde. Ob dem heute noch so ist,
ist schwer zu sagen, aber es ist immer noch genauso schwierig,
aus dem Holzbrett wieder rauszukommen, wenn man einmal drinnen steckt.
Die lieben Mitmenschen sind einem da oft eine große Hilfe...
Pranger gibt es auch in Ausführungen mit Kette und Halsring. Holzbretter, nicht die fest montierten, sondern in tragbarer Ausfertigung gibt es als Joch, aber viel Beweglichkeit gewinnt man dadurch nicht unbedingt, die man allerdings gleich wieder los ist, wenn einem eine Krawatte oder Storch angelegt wird. |

In former times you had to do something not exactly right
to be put on display at the pillory. One wonders if this still holds
in the present times. Nevertheless it is equally difficult to get out
of such a wooden device once you got stuck into it.
Kind friends usually are of great help in this respect...
Pillories may also come in the shape of a chained neck ring. Wearable wooden boards (not the rigidly mounted ones) called yokes do not give you much more freedom to move, and it is becoming less again once you are made to wear a cravat like on this photo. |
