Eine Daumenschelle. Dieser Fesseltyp hat intrinsische Probleme, denn man muß sie so eng anlegen, daß sie in den Daumen einschneidet und Schmerzen verursacht, um zu vermeiden, daß man sie abstreifen kann. Schon mit der Absicht, Schmerzen zu erzeugen, sind Daumenschrauben gebaut worden. Für Handgelenke gibt es enge Schellen mit weniger Komfort, aber ohne Quälvorsatz. Leider gibt es auch Handschellen minderer Qualität, die auch gefährlich sein können.

Thumb cuffs as a type of restraints have the intrinsic shortcoming that they have to be placed so tightly onto the thumb that they start to hurt in order to prevent slipping out. There are actually thumb screws which have already been designed to cause pain. But there are tight cuffs for the wrist which do not provide much comfort but are not produced with the aim of torture. Unfortunately there are also handcuffs of inferiour quality which may turn out to be dangerous and nasty.
