Diese Replika von Darby Fußeisen wird für Sammler und Liebhaber von Hiatts-Thompson hergestellt. Die Materialqualität entspricht leider nicht mehr den originalen Darbies. Eine unangenehme Überraschung wartete auf mich, als ich die Schellen mit dem Schraubschlüssel öffnen wollte. Eine der Schellen ließ sich überhaupt nicht öffnen. Der Verschlußbolzen sitzt bombenfest im Gehäse, quasi wie festgeschweißt. Auf Nachfrage bei Sammlerkollegen erfuhr ich von einem Fall, bei dem eine Schelle erstmal normal zu öffnen war und dann erst plötzlich das Öffnen verweigerte. Es gibt gewisse Fesseln, die nicht mehr zu öffnen sind, wenn erst einmal geschlossen. Hier ist dies aber beabsichtigt und vorher bekannt. Einfach nicht empfehlenswerte Handschellen einerseits und andererseits echt sichere Fußschellen aus China.

These replica of Darby legirons are manufactured by Hiatts-Thompson and are aimed at the collector community. Material quality is inferiour to that of the original Darby cuffs. I was in for an unpleasant surprise when I wanted to open one of the cuffs for the first time. It did not open at all. For whatever reason unknown to me the locking bolt was jammed solid, as if it had been welded to the casing. A really nasty surprise happened to a fellow collector. A cuff that opened and closed normally suddenly would not open any longer. There are certain restraints that are non-opening by design once they have been shut. But in this case it is known beforehand and one is well aware of this fact. Simply a handcuff brand not recommended but then a rather secure legiron, both from China.
